Hi there,

How’s it going over there? I’m loving that you’re loving the micro dinner party series—I have guests on deck every Wednesday for the rest of July and I’m thrilled that it’s becoming a bit of a weekly tradition. Having a meal that feels special midweek is just the little boost I needed in my kitchen and cooking repertoire.

Speaking of mixing it up in the kitchen, this weekend, I’m headed out to see my parents (my sweet mother had a big milestone birthday yesterday!) and siblings. They don’t know it yet, but I’m hoping they’ll let me fire up the grill tomorrow evening for a big ol’ traditional 4th of July meal. I’m not feeling super pumped about celebrating the US as it functions today (*screams into the void*) so my hotdog eating will be done in protest and in conjunction with donations to abortion funds. But yes, I’ll be eating hotdogs.

So this week, let’s scream into the void together, but also, let’s run down some summer barbecue favorites that go a bit above and beyond the classic burger and dog combo. No grill? No problem. I’ve got alt instructions as needed in the comment under each recipe. Let’s goooo!

If you don’t have a grill, make these on the stovetop. Heat a pan to medium high, add a splash of neutral oil and sear on both sides (3-5 minutes for medium rare, depending on the size of your chop).
